SFC is named Most Active Seed Investor in Europe News

PitchBook Data has named SFC Capital the Most Active Seed Investor in Europe during the COVID-19 pandemic

PitchBook Data recently published its Q2 2020 Global League Tables and named SFC Capital (formerly Startup Funding Club) the Most Active Angel & Seed investor in Europe. SFC Capital is only behind SOSV and 500 Startups on the Global list of Seed investors for this period.

In total, SFC Capital has closed 28 deals in Q2 2020 alone – more than twice as much as any other seed-stage investor in Europe, with Enterprise Ireland coming second with 12 investments. Most of these investments were closed during April and May, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK and under strict lockdown conditions.

In this context, there was a clear focus on sourcing MedTech and Life Sciences companies, with notable investments including Novai and 4D Medicine. The 28-strong portfolio remains highly diversified and spans many sectors including e-commerce, Fintech, and B2B Software.

Joseph Zipfel, Chief Investment Officer at SFC Capital commented: “This ranking is a great testament to the work of the SFC team, which has stayed extremely active despite the very challenging conditions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. We have managed to source high-potential startups that are well positioned to succeed in a post COVID-19 world, and we are now focusing on helping these entrepreneurs navigate the challenges and opportunities created by the pandemic.”
